Installation
Open your WordPress Dashboard.

Click Add Plugin in the upper-left corner.
Click Choose File and select the downloaded ZIP file (VAULO_wpplugin_X.X.X.zip).
Click Install Now. WordPress will install the plugin.
After the installation is complete, click Activate Now.
Getting Started
After successfully installing and activating the plugin, you can use it directly from the WordPress editor.
Create a new post or edit an existing one.
Add an Image or Gallery element to your post and click on it.
Select Media Library from the available options.
In the dialog that opens, select the VAULO tab at the top.
Log in with your VAULO account. Once logged in, you will see the spaces that belong to your organization.
You can now browse your VAULO content and insert images directly into WordPress.
Linking or copying images
For every image you decide whether WordPress copies or links it:
- Copy (default): The image is downloaded to your WordPress server and sits in the Media Library like any other upload. You can crop it first and optionally import it as WebP.
- Link: The image stays in VAULO and is loaded from there. Nothing is stored on your WordPress server, and the website always shows the current version of the file.
Above the VAULO picker in the media dialog you find the switch Link images instead of copying them. It starts with the default from the settings (see Settings) and can be changed for the current selection — for example to copy a single image that needs cropping.
Linked images are delivered by VAULO as WebP, at most 1920 pixels on the longer edge, plus a small 480-pixel variant for previews. Cropping is only available when copying, the WebP option in the settings only applies to copied images, and WordPress' own image editor cannot edit linked images. If the file is deleted in VAULO or its share link is removed, the image disappears from the website as well.
Inserting Images
Single Image
Open the desired folder and click on the image you want to insert.
A larger preview opens. Insert the image with Choose File. When copying, you can edit it first with Crop.
The image is added to the WordPress Media Library and is already selected there. Click Insert or Select to use it.
Multiple Images
Open the folder that contains the images you want to import.
Click the selection icon in the upper-right corner. Checkboxes will appear next to the images.
Select the images you want to insert, then click Insert in the lower-right corner.
Folders
Browse to the folder overview. Checkboxes are displayed next to folders by default.
Select the folders you want to insert and click Insert in the lower-right corner.
The selected folder contents will be imported and made available in the WordPress Media Library.
VAULO in the Media Library
Under Media → Library you find the button Import from VAULO next to Add Media File. It opens the media dialog directly on the VAULO tab; inserted images then appear in the library without a reload.
Images from VAULO carry the VAULO mark in the grid view and a Source column in the list view. Both views can be filtered with From VAULO. The attachment details state whether an image was copied from VAULO or linked.
Settings
Under VAULO → Settings in the WordPress menu you find:
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Proxy URL, Ignore Certificate | Only needed when your WordPress server reaches VAULO through a proxy. Ignore Certificate skips verification of the proxy's certificate. |
| Import all Pictures as WebP | Copied images are imported as WebP. Saves storage, but does not apply to linked images. |
| Link images instead of copying them | Default for the switch in the media dialog: images are linked instead of copied (see Linking or copying images). |
| Use VAULO Beta version | Connects the plugin to the VAULO beta environment instead of production. |
Updates
New plugin versions show up under Plugins and Dashboard → Updates like for any other plugin. VAULO → Updates additionally shows the installed and the latest version, lets you check right away with Check for updates, and start the update from there.
Support
If the VAULO tab is missing from the media dialog or something does not work, download a diagnostic report as a text file under VAULO → Support and attach it to your support ticket. The report contains the WordPress, PHP and plugin versions, the active theme, active plugins and the plugin settings as yes/no values — no passwords, credentials or media contents. You can review it on the page before sending. For a problem that only occurs now and then, start a recording with Start recording, reproduce the problem in the same browser tab, and download the report afterwards.
