DirectDownload: Share Files via Link or Email
Learn how to create and configure a DirectDownload link in VAULO - including password protection, share duration, custom message, and download tracking. This guide shows you how to send the link via email or copy it directly. Prerequisite: Access to the share function in the VAULO Digital Asset Management System.

Once you have opened the share window, click on the DirectDownload tab.
You now have various configuration options:
Add a message
If you want to send a message to the recipient, you can enter it in the Message field.
Enable password protection
If you want to protect the download with a password, enter the desired password in the Password field.
Restrict share duration
If the download link should only be available for a specific period, check the box for "Restrict share duration" and then select the desired share period.
Send or copy the link
Then enter the recipient's email address in the corresponding field. If you want to add multiple addresses, you can do so using the + icon that appears after entering the first address. Now click "Send link" to send the link by email.
Alternatively, you can also copy the download link by clicking "Copy link".
Please note that any message from the Message field will not be transferred when copying the link.
If you want to log the download, check the "Request downloader data" field. This will prompt for the desired data during download, which you have previously configured in the download tracking settings in the organization settings.
Legal texts & download requirement
Use Customize legal texts to control the imprint and optional Legal Hub texts for this link. You can also set a download requirement: the recipient must accept the selected text via checkbox before the download is unlocked. Organization-wide defaults live in Legal Hub under Defaults for shares.
