Fill in Required Fields
The dialog that appears while uploading files when required metadata fields defined in Data Studio are still missing, and collects them via a single, table, or card view.
The Fill in Required Fields dialog opens automatically during an upload as soon as at least one of the uploaded files is missing a value for a metadata field marked as required in Data Studio – there is no button that opens it directly. If the organization has no required fields defined, the dialog never appears and the upload proceeds straight through.
It offers three views of the same task. You can switch between them freely; values already entered and optional fields already added are kept when switching.
Single view (stepper)
The default desktop view, with a preview per file:
- An image preview of the current file with its name and size
- A form with all required fields (amber while empty, red after a failed upload attempt) plus a collapsible

Cancel aborts the upload; Upload (or Upload All for multiple files) confirms it. If required values are still missing, an error message appears and the first incomplete file is shown.
AI Assistant
A dedicated AI Assistant button (icon addonVisionAI) – independent of the required-field AI assistant configured in the Data Studio settings – shows an AI suggestion right next to each required field's input. A toolbar above it offers Regenerate (discards the current suggestions and requests new ones for the current file) and Apply All (applies every existing suggestion to the fields at once). Individual suggestions can be applied via a per-field arrow button; for keyword fields, the suggested values instead appear as individually clickable chips (clicking one applies just that keyword, an "×" drops it from the suggestion again).
If AI is disabled for a field in the Data Studio settings, that field shows "AI suggestions are disabled for this field." instead of a suggestion. Until a real backend is connected, the assistant also serves local demo suggestions, marked with a Demo badge.
Table view (bulk editing)
Reached via Table View, titled Metadata – Bulk Editing: an Excel-style table with one row per file (including a thumbnail) and one column per field, required fields marked with *. Values can be edited directly in the cells; a drag handle in the bottom-right corner of a cell copies its value down onto every row below it (fill-down). Keyword fields render as a File Keywords input, rating fields as a star rating. The Back button (it replaces the usual close cross here) returns to the previous single view.
Cards view (mobile)
On narrow screens, a cards view (same title Metadata – Bulk Editing) automatically replaces both the single and table views, regardless of how many files are being uploaded. Each file is a collapsible card with a thumbnail, file name and size, and a badge showing Complete or {count} left depending on its fill-in status. Expanded, a card shows its fields plus – once a field already has a value – an Apply to All button that copies that field's value onto every other file. Optional fields are managed here via an Add Field button that opens an Additional Fields bottom sheet, where already-added fields can also be removed again.
