Set up two-factor authentication
The multi-step dialog for setting up two-factor authentication for your account.
The Set up two-factor authentication dialog opens via the Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung einrichten (Set up two-factor authentication) button in your account's security settings. It walks you through four steps, whose titles change as you progress:
- Wiederherstellungscodes speichern (Save recovery codes) – shows your recovery codes, with a
Codes kopieren(Copy codes) button to copy them to the clipboard, aIch habe meine Wiederherstellungscodes sicher gespeichert(I have saved my recovery codes securely) switch, and aBestätigen(Confirm) button - Wiederherstellungscode bestätigen (Confirm recovery code) – a code input field to verify you correctly saved one of the codes, with
Zurück(Back) andBestätigen(Confirm) buttons - Authenticator verbinden (Connect authenticator) – shows a QR code to scan with an authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator) and a
Bestätigen(Confirm) button - Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung aktivieren (Activate two-factor authentication) – a 6-digit code input for the code from the authenticator app, with
Zurück(Back) andEinrichtung abschließen(Complete setup) buttons
The recovery codes are shown only in this dialog. Without saving them securely, you may lose access to your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
